Tell us a short version of what your business is?
Super Smart SMSF provides specialist annual compliance services for Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSFs). I help trustees understand what can often feel like a complex area, in a way that feels approachable and practical. I also work closely alongside accountants, financial planners, mortgage brokers and solicitors so clients receive the right support from the right professionals – helping everything run smoothly and confidently.

How long have you been operating; how many in your team?
I’ve worked in the accounting industry, mainly in SMSFs, for over a decade. After juggling full-time work, completing the Chartered Accountant program and raising three young children, I moved into running my own business so I could be present for my family while continuing to build my career. Super Smart SMSF has been operating since 2019 and is supported by Emma, our Senior Administrator & Accounts Assistant, and Catherine, our Online Business Manager.

What are the successes and challenges of your business?
One of the most rewarding parts of the business is supporting both trustees and accounting firms. For trustees, this often includes helping them better understand their responsibilities, contribution limits and compliance obligations so there are fewer surprises later on. For accounting firms, we provide specialist SMSF support that helps them retain their clients while ensuring a high standard of service. SMSFs operate under their own legislation (the SIS Act), so staying across ongoing regulatory changes is essential. I also strongly believe clients benefit most when each professional focuses on what they do best – whether that’s their business accountant, financial planner, mortgage broker, solicitor or SMSF specialist.

What were the reasons you made the move to Nexus?
After working from home while my children were into their teens, I discovered Nexus through a Women in Business event and started with a casual membership before moving into an office. It’s made a huge difference to productivity and has helped create clearer boundaries between work and home life. Being part of the Nexus community has also opened the door to valuable connections with other local businesses.

Do you have any special offers or incentives or what you can help other Nexus members with?
I’m always happy to chat with members who are considering an SMSF, already have one but would like to better understand their responsibilities, or accountants looking for specialist SMSF support for their clients.
